The Grand Rapids Orchestra Presents A Swingin New Years Eve 2013 to ring in the New Year in style. A community institution, the Grand Rapids Symphony performs more than 400 concerts per year and offers special events including the New Years celebration. Established in 1930, the Grand Rapids Symphony has entertained and inspired audiences for over 80 years. The symphony conducts performances for nearly 170,000 audience members a year, ranging from devoted patrons to people experiencing the orchestra for the first time. Adults and children alike have enjoyed the performances of the Grand Rapids Symphony for many years.

This West Michigan organization brings the highest quality musical experiences to the surrounding community with various concert offerings and programs that focus on musical education and the arts. The Grand Rapids Symphony also lends it’s talents to the Opera Grand Rapids and The Grand Rapids Ballet Company. GRS is also associated with youth orchestras and choruses.

The annual New Years Eve performance is a homage to the era of swing this year. Featuring accomplished jazz vocalists, Lisanne Lyons and Tony Babino, conductor, Mike Berkowitz has put together a program with music from swing legends, Count Basie, Henry Mancini, and Cole Porter. Professional swing dancers will perform alongside the music to enhance the concert experience and create a celebratory mood for the special occasion.

The New Years Eve performance will be hosted by the newly renovated DeVos Performance Hall that has hosted a number of high profile musicians and performers including B.B. King, Harry Connick, Jr., Jerry Seinfeld, and Bill Cosby. The Hall boasts and intimate layout and seating arrangement and proudly displays it’s recently updated facilities that work to expand upon the pleasurable experiences of the audience.

The Grand Rapids Swingin New Years Eve offers couples an opportunity to dress up in their finest evening wear and paint the town red with good music and entertainment. The concert begins at 8:00 p.m. on December 31st. Tickets are currently available for $18 a piece at the Grand Rapids Symphony ticket office.
